Mini horse ranch

TAmpa’s only mini horse ranch & VENUE

Established in 2016, Southern Streams Ranch breeds and sells miniature horses with the utmost care and respect.

MEET OUR MINIS

Our minis roam and play on a one-acre paddock and share the space with two mini cows, Lucy and El Chapo. They have access to fresh clean water at all times and graze on hay and a high-quality ration. Minis are prone to obesity, which is why they do not roam on grass. Because our soil is sandy, psyllium is administered each month to support their digestion. Individual feeding stalls further allow us to support their unique nutritional needs. Our horses are under the care of a certified veterinarian and receive top-notch comprehensive treatment, from routine grooming to annual dental exams.

They may be tiny and adorable, but these horses have larger-than-life personalities!

PENELOPE

Coco’s youngest daughter, Penelope, looks like Rowdy with her sorrel coloring. Watch out! She likes to nip at boots and keychains.

COCO

The matriarch. She is chestnut-colored with four white “socks” and real stubborn!

ROWDY

The stallion. He is sorrel-colored (light red), calm, and solitary.

Carousel

Coco’s oldest daughter, Carousel, is brown and white (pinto-patterned), curious, and docile.

KIWI

Carousel’s youngest daughter, Kiwi, is the newest addition to our ranch! She is brown and white (pinto-patterned) and, like most youngins, rambunctious and playful.

ISABEL

Carousel’s oldest daughter, Isabel, is like her mama: brown and white (pinto-patterned) with a calm and gentle nature.

HISTORY

The first miniature horse was imported into the United States in 1888 and was popularized in the 1960s. According to the American Miniature Horse Association, there are now over 240,000 minis in America! They are distinguished by their height, which does not exceed 34 inches. Unlike ponies, minis have the same bone structure as full-sized horses, just on a smaller scale.
